Our Values

2020_Logo - gears_multi

Your wellbeing is our priority. We take great care in choosing our caregivers and matching them with your loved ones. Our Personal Support Workers are paid a living wage, receive benefits and are treated as valued members of our team to ensure they stay with us for the long term and as a result, you have the same caregivers for a long time and build connections with them. As a result, the PSW that you are partnered with also gets to know you well. Please visit the Team page to learn more.

At Active Caregiving, it is not about doing only what was asked. We go above and beyond and use common sense to attend to things needing attention without needing to be asked. On our visits, we are looking out for this, whether it be a spill that needs cleaning, medication that needs sorting, or anything in between, to make sure that when we leave, you and your loved ones are comfortable.

We deeply respect how you want to spend your time with recreational and relaxing activities and we help to facilitate those to provide fulfilling experiences that provide a sense of individualism and accomplishment.

At Active Caregiving, we can provide support whether you live with your children, with others or are on your own. We can provide a stop gap while you wait to get into long term care, respite support to cover when family is out, and/or one-on-one support in long term care.

Our Intake Coordinator will help you organize the right schedule for you or your loved one. Weekly schedules are flexible and can be changed at any time.

We know that it is awkward at best and frightening at worst to have strangers in your home, and we want to make the experience as comfortable as possible. That means matching you with the right PSW that will be a good fit and to have the same person visit you every time for the long term. Receiving care should be EASY, straightforward, and provide comfort. If your loved one is nervous about the transition to receiving home care, please read our article How to Introduce Home Care when there is Resistance.

  • Clients are assigned the same PSWs for their visits and have their direct contact information to discuss care plan needs and schedules.
  • We pay a living wage which honours the work and builds in consistency.

  • The two Directors at Active Caregiving have a background in Gerontology and Senior Care. They know the care clients deserve.
